This is just wrong!!

http://www.washingtontimes.com/national/20070201-122225-1157r.htm

I do not care who you are, Democrat, Republican, Libertarian, Green Party, this is wrong. Do congress folks really need planes with catered food and an open bar??? Is this a good, prudent use of our tax dollars??? Can they not travel back and forth on smaller, more efficient planes??? They want us to cut back on the use of fossil fuels yet they will jet across the country in one of these polluters. 1 cross-country trip in a private plane uses more gas and generates more pollution then my 4 cylinder does in 1 year. If you want to get serious about global warming here is a good place to start.

What you do speaks so loudly I can't hear what you say.

Actually, I don't have too big an issue with members of Congress having access to vehicles for official travel.

As Speaker of the House, Mrs. Pelosi's request is reasonable, particularly after some of the chaos in past situations.

My problem stems from the extent to which she feels justified in using this transportation. In Wisconsin, we had an Attorney General who got squashed for using a government car to travel between her home and the capital. Minor compared to using a private (or otherwise) plane for family members to travel on unofficial business.

I know who this is without reading the story. I only agree in part, and that is because of the security issue. But for her family's use? No way. The average citizen who pays for this luxury is not privy to the same security measures, and therefore neither should her family. Its the risk you take in public life, and your family needs to keep a low profile then if there is a security risk. I'm quite sure, given the chance, the use of the military airplanes would be abused by the family members, so it should NOT be allowed for them. A body guard might be just as effective yet somehow cheaper?

It kind of reminds me of what my mother used to say. "Pretty is as pretty does."

The Washington Times is a Moonie paper that's one step below the National Enquirer in veracity. But anyway, you should probably review this:

Another week down

Well the first week back from spring break wasn't bad at all. I was looking forward to the weekend though, so I'm very glad it'...
