1 step forward, 2 steps back.

Isn't that song by the Boss, Bruce Springstein????

Okay, that brings something to mind. I love music, absolutely adore it. I listen to it all day long, I sing along (usually I'm alone :), I'm learning to play the guitar. I can't remember what I had for lunch yesterday but I can remember all the words to a song I learned 30 years ago. I've also learned that if I really need to learn something, put it to music and it will stick forever. But you know what I do hate??? When singers espouse their political views. Bruce did this a few years back and whenever I hear a song of his I say to myself, "a*shole, you ruined it for me." I never really liked the protest songs from the 60's and I don't like the new ones. I listen to music for entertainment and an escape, not to hear you're political views. It's the same way with TV. There are only a few shows I watch and I am much happier when I have no idea what the creators or characters political stance is. ER has been one of my favorite shows for years, but about 2 years ago, when they were going to Africa, they lost me because they kept talking about how bad the US was. If I want to hear about political stuff, I'll watch CNN or Fox or something, not ER.

Okay, not sure why I went off on that rant. Anyway the taxes are rearing their ugly heads again. I really, really hate tax season and I hate tax day cause it's my birthday. It's not the end of the world and it really is my fault as I'm trying to get this all cleared up and what do they say, it'll get worse before it gets better?? Yeah, it is. Anyway, things will be okay, it will just take a couple of months. But it still pisses me off :)

So my eating has been going really, really well and the weight is starting to come off. What's interesting, and I'm not sure I can explain this properly, is that areas of my body that were solid fat are getting looser and actually looking worse. But I know the fat is melting because I can feel it's not there anymore. I read somewhere that intramuscular fat is stored first and subcutaneous fat is stored secondary. When you start burning fat the intramuscular fat gets burned first making the muscles leaner and more shapely and making the subcutaneous fat more noticeable. I think that is what is happening to me. In most places I can feel the muscle through the fat and they are all feeling lean and sleek. So if I keep this up and get rid of the subcutaneous fat I will be happy, happy, happy :) Okay, that may have been a little TMI, sorry........

Well, that's all I have. I have a ton of tests to run and I just don't feel like working. Better get to it though, they won't run themselves.

Well again, I agree with what you say about the political stuff. Also, again, I know what you mean about the fat issue. Since last year, I have lost about 25 pounds, and while I may look a lot leaner, I still have those areas where the fat is obvious (to me mostly), and I can't seem to break it totally down yet either. What I also notice is that doing the sprint routine is helping burn more fat, as it promised, but while some areas definitely look like fat has been burned, it makes other areas not touched yet look worse, along the lines of what you were saying. Let's just hang in there and hopefully this fat will take a long hike soon!

Another week down

Well the first week back from spring break wasn't bad at all. I was looking forward to the weekend though, so I'm very glad it'...
