One of those mornings

The alarm goes off. I lay there listening to it rain outside. A little voice inside is saying stay in bed. I force myself up and get ready. I head out to the Y. I get there before the lifeguard. When I can finally get in the pool I am not in the mood for workout. I just want to play. But I'm 2 1/2 weeks out from my first tri, I have got to get the mileage in or I'm going to have an ugly swim. I get my cap on, get the goggles set, put the earplugs in and turn on the mp3 player. It takes a minute for the player to start playing, so I've gotten into the pool and am putting my workout so I can see it. All of a sudden this song comes on:

Edit: I had to change the video since the original was is no longer available :( I heart Bob Seger, big time, and would much rather watch him then anime.
If you didn't grow up in the 70's and 80's the actual words won't mean a lot to you, but the beat and the chorus, the fire inside, gets me every time. This fired me up so much I had one of the best workouts ever. I ended up doing 1400m in 40 minutes. I was rocking. It felt great and I think I'm getting faster. I've purposely avoided timing any swimming because a) I get bummed when I read how fast other people swim and b) I get upset if I don't see improvement like week to week. So I haven't timed a 100m swim in months. I do the overall time, 1400m in 40 minutes, but that always includes rest intervals, kicking intervals, really slow, lazy, intervals. So that doesn't really tell me anything. But I know I'm getting faster because I caught up with the swim coach today. She was in the next lane warming up with hand paddles and I was able to catch up with her. Woo Hoo!!! I'm getting there.

Last night I did something new and different. Hubby and I went to the rec center near our house and attempted to play some tennis. I have not held a tennis racquet in years but it was fun. We hit the ball around for about an hour. That is quite a workout. We will be doing this a couple of nights a week. It's so much fun!!!

That's enough for now. My right forearm is sore from tennis and typing is hard :)

I like to play music while I work out and when a familiar song is playing I tend to step up the pace.

Another week down

Well the first week back from spring break wasn't bad at all. I was looking forward to the weekend though, so I'm very glad it'...
