Had a goal and reached it

Today at school was the Aloha Show.  It was suggested that we wear aloha attire, for those on the mainland that would be a nice Hawaiian shirt for the men and muu muu's for the women.  I have a muu muu that I really love but that is fitted and it had gotten a little tight.  Last weekend I realized that if I watched what I ate and worked out I could fit into that dress by today.  So I did.  I worked out every day, twice most days.  I walked the dogs every night and I watched what I ate.  I didn't necessarily count calories and I ate whatever I wanted, just a little bit of them instead of a lot.  Today I put the dress on and it fit just fine. Woo Hoo.  Maybe I need to have a little goal every week to keep me on track.

I have found that not obsessing over numbers seems to be working much better for me.  I get so hung up in the numbers I lose track of the whole reason for counting calories.  After a while numbers just become numbers, 4396841, whatever..... Eating sensibly and watching my portions seems to be the ticket for me and I need to remember that.

A couple of things I've learned this week....

Getting up at 4:30 in the morning actually does become easier if you keep doing it.  As does working out.  I've been getting up at 4:30 and working out and then working out when I come home in the afternoons.  It works.

Working out and eating right actually increase your energy.  I'm not exhausted at 9 pm every night.  I'm actually able to stay up until 9:30 and still get up at 4:30 :)

Good sleep is much better then more sleep.  Because of the eating right/working out I'm sleeping a lot better at night.  I fall asleep faster and sleep much deeper.  That seems to do more good then staying in bed for an extra half hour.

Small amounts of food are really all that's needed. I've been packing light lunches because I'm trying to cut the calories back and they are completly satisfing.  On Monday I cut up an apple to take to work.  Around 3 I got a little hungry and knew I would be working out when I got home so I ate 2 of the apple slices.  That was plenty.  Yesterday I took the remaining apple to work and ate 2 slices at 3 pm.  It was perfect. Today I got hungry between classes.  2 slices were plenty to hold me until lunch.  A little food is really all I need.

So there you have it.  Things I've learned this week.  It might not be as thorough as an employee background check but it's definitely steps in the right direction.

Conversation with Hubby

So yesterday morning I presented my idea of working out at home to the Hubby. Once I presented it to him, he said he was in. I told him I h...
