Regrouping

That's what I'm doing today. This week was not great. I only worked out on Monday and ran on Tuesday. The rest of the week I didn't do anything. On Wednesday I came home, walked the dogs, than worked on school stuff all night. Thursday I went to WW, then we went out to dinner for Chinese. Last night we got a last minute call to celebrate a friends birthday so that was dinner out. Luckily today starts my new day on WW (even though I weigh in on Thursday my new points start on Saturday) so it's a good time to regroup. I have a little bit of a stuffy head thing going on so I slept in this morning and did not make it to work out. But that's okay, I do need to plan this week though so that I do not show another gain.

I'm back. I went and had some breakfast and talked to Hubby for a bit. Now, on to my plan. Here is what I'm going to do:
  • Track.  Every morsel, bite, lick, taste, everything
  • Focus on the power foods.  These are mainly lean meat, fruits, veggies, all the things that are good for you.
  • Move. As much as possible.  Not just working out but playing Wii, cleaning house, things like that.  Just keep moving.
  • Wear my FitBit to keep track of my moving.
There you go. Not really so very hard.  Today I'm going to clean the house, clean my desk, do the laundry, go grocery shopping,  look for some natural acne treatment cream, I seem to be breaking out like a teenager, and play Dance, Dance, Revolution for hours. I want to play now but I'll do my chores first.

I am not pleased...

(Apparently I've used this title once or twice because it came up on the autocomplete. Twice.)

Tonight was weigh-in and I was up 2 lbs. Now I'm not sold on that at all. I have been eating a little more than I should but I am not out of my points so that should be okay. I have been slacking a little bit this week, using returning to school as an excuse. I've also been using the weather. We've had rain and wind that was knocking out power all over the island. I was ready to check into generac generators. The lights kept flickering and I really thought we were going to lose power. There was a condo building here that was without power for about 2 weeks.

So it starts again. Tomorrow. No time like the present right???

Running

that's what I've been doing.  After the 5k on Sunday, I took it easy the rest of the day.  Yesterday I did circuit training at night.  This morning I got up at 4:30 and ran at 5. I was very proud of myself. About 2.6 miles in just about 30 minutes.  There was some knee pain but I struggle through.

I need to get a bathroom vanity. Right now all we have is the sink hanging off a wall and it's really starting to get to me. I want a vanity with a slightly larger sink so that I can put things on it. I need more room. When I come back from a run I have things I need to put down, take off, whatever before I shower.

Okay, enough of this. I'm getting tired so I'm going to head off to bed.

Bob & Ron's 5k

This is my first race in...... well, a really long time. Last time I ran this race was 2008.  I did a lot of racing in 2008, I hope to duplicate it this year.

Anyway, so what happened.  Well, it was cold.  58F cold....Even after running the race I was still cold. That's pretty cold.  So, started off pretty good. I seeded myself at the back of the pack and just took off slow.  I worked on keeping my own pace and not falling victim to the pack mentality.  I know myself and I know that starting running is hard.  After about 7 minutes of running my legs were hurting, so I walked for a minute.  I did this run/walk thing for about 1 mile. After that I was pretty good and ran mostly.  I hit the 2 mile mark at 28 minutes and was feeling really good.  I took my last walking break and prepared to take it in to the finish line.  I started running and bam! knee pain.  Yikes!  I haven't had anything like that in a long time.  I just kept plugging along and the knee would hurt every few steps but nothing I couldn't handle.  I tried to sprint to the finish but I just didn't have it in me.  I finished in 42:20 ish.  Not bad.  Not great, but not near as bad as I thought it might be.

Things learned:
  1. I love the atmosphere and camaraderie of races
  2. I need to work on my endurance
  3. I'm a wuss when it comes to cold.
The next race is in 2 weeks and it is an 8k (~5 miles).  My goal for that one is to be able to run the whole thing. My training plan is to run 3.1 on Tuesday, 4 miles on Thursday and Sunday, 5 miles on the following Tuesday and Thursday.  It's a big jump in mileage but I think I can handle.  I really want to do this....

Conversation with Hubby

So yesterday morning I presented my idea of working out at home to the Hubby. Once I presented it to him, he said he was in. I told him I h...
