I am done

I have not been myself for 3 weeks now and I am over it. The first week, after the Great Aloha Run, I had a giant blister on the ball of my foot. Since I could barely walk, I decided to take the week off as a sort of recovery week. Well, that caused the wheels to fall off the bus. I took that week off. That Sunday I came down with the flu that had me in bed for 7 days. Ugly, ugly. This past Monday I returned to school but my energy has been really low all week. My head is a little foggy and I just want to lay down. I sleep at night like the dead. But I am over it. I am done feeling sick and crappy. 2 weeks devoted to sickness is enough. I want to feel like myself again. I want to feel normal. So today everything changes. I'm going back to eating paleo, and not the strict paleo but the one that made me feel good. I'm going back to Crossfit 5 times a week. I am going to fake it until I feel it. But the main thing is to get back to eating right. I have learned how important eating right is and I need to get back to it. So that all starts today.

Also, back a 100 years ago before I got sick. I wanted to begin documenting Crossfit on here. So that's back on too and I'm going to start with yesterday. The Crossfit open started this week. This is basically elimination rounds for the Crossfit games. Anyone can sign up for the open and for 5 weeks they put out one workout a week. Everyone in the world does the same workouts under the same conditions and record the scores. At the end of 5 weeks the top ones will move on to regionals, then nationals, etc. I am not under any illusion that I will get very far, but I thought it would be fun to see how I stack up against the rest of the world.

Yesterday at the box was the first workout, 13.1. It consisted of:

  • 40 burpees
  • 30 snatches at 45#
  • 30 burpees
  • 30 snatches at 75#
  • 20 burpees
  • 30 snatches at 100#
  • 10 burpees
  • Max snatch reps at 120#
You had 17 minutes to get as much of this done as possible. Your score was the total number of reps you completed. You also had to take the time at the end of each snatch set for tiebreakers if necessary.

So that went down yesterday at the box. I got through 1st burpees, 1st snatches, and the 2nd burpees. I had some time and tried very hard to get some snatches in the 2nd round of snatches but I just could not get that bar over my head. It was tough. Really, really tough. But I did it and I'm proud of myself for trying. Wednesday the second workout comes out, so it will be interesting to see what that is. Oh, I think I could have done better if I had been working out even a little these past 3 weeks. I'm sure I'll do better in round 2.

Time for a change?

So I started this little business about 1.5 years ago. The idea was to make a little side business that would keep me busy when I retire. I...
