Last Thursday I finished week 1 of the Couch to 5K program and was extremely pleased with myself. Then things went downhill. The shoulder hurt bad. The weekend came. Party on Sunday. Monday - slothday...blah, blah, blah...... So today I was determined to get back on the horse. I want to run. I love running in races. I love the feeling of accomplishment that I only get from doing races. I love it.... So I laced up my shoes and headed out. I started Week 2 which is 90 seconds of running and 2 minutes of walking - 6 times. It was awesome. The first interval or two were tough but once I got rolling it was all good. Love that feeling..... I did a total of 2 miles in 30 minutes. That does not sound like much but consider this; 5 minutes walking to warm up and cool down. That leaves only 20 minutes running time. 6 intervals of 90 seconds running and 120 seconds walking. That gives a total running time of 9 minutes and 11 minutes walking. So covering 2 miles in that time is really not that bad at all. It's a place to start.
Once I got home I sat and made a list of things I need to get done before school starts next week. That way I won't sit on my butt until Sunday and then knock myself out. I'm off to the showers and then to start on my list.
