Sometimes it can be a good thing. I signed up for that NaBloPoMo for November and because I agreed to do it I had the pressure on me to complete what I started, I did 90 blog posts in 30 days. Some of them weren't so hot, but I did them. Very, very cool.
As I was working out this morning I thought about that. I agreed to do this, I had the pressure to do it everyday, I did it. The best part was it wasn't tremendous pressure. It would only make me feel bad if I didn't do it. No serious consequences. More like a little prodding than real pressure.
So I've decided to give myself a little prodding, a little added pressure if you will. I have resolved to work out every day in December. Now they won't always be butt-kicking, sweat inducing, heart pounding workouts. Some will be easy hikes or walks around somewhere. But I will be active everyday in December for at least 30 minutes. I've very excited about this. I will be focusing on my running since I have a 10k in 30 days - yikes!!!! But I will also be weight training, aerobics, and biking whenever I can. So here goes.
Today I was looking for a sweat pouring, heart pounding, muscle straining workout. But since I did strength training and running yesterday I was unsure what to do today. I opted for a kick-butt aerobic workout. It was fun and sweaty and a great way to start the weekend. Now, I'm off to try and get my printer working. Ugh!!!! Have I mentioned I hate computers ???

The Last Day.....
I did it. I made it 30 days blogging on all 3 blogs. I'm very proud of myself. It really has helped me get some focus on the other 2 blogs. This blog has always been and always will be about health and fitness. But the other 2 were trying to find their voices. This month of blogging definitely helped.
Now, on to fitness. Since I didn't get up because of the cold yesterday (and no Vickie, I'm not joking :), today ended up being a running day. Yesterday it was so cold because we had not cloud cover overnight. There was no insulation to hold the heat in. This morning when I woke up I noticed that it wasn't as cold as yesterday and it was really cloudy. I ran but it was really humid and hot. Ugh!!! There is no in between here in the winter. It's either cold or humid. Yeah, love the options. But I did it, 2 miles in 25 minutes. I'm really feeling good running and that's the best part.
Okay, I have to close out the month on the other 2 blogs, and it's the weekend - woo hoo!!!

Winter has arrived
and I'm not liking it at all. It was cold last night before I went to bed but that was nothing compared to this morning. It had to be in the low 60's. I was so freaking cold..... Okay, I don't want to hear it. The 60's are seriously cold when you live in a place where the average temp is 85. Our houses are not built for heat. My house is single wall construction, no insulation, windows that don't close tight, some don't close at all. No, these are not built for temps below 70ish. Right now it's 76 and I'm sitting here in flannel pj's and socks. I hate winter.
So the alarm went off this morning and I stuck my hand out to hit the snooze and nearly froze. I ended up hitting the snooze one too many times and didn't have time to get my run in. I did get my strength workout in. I dug out my long running pants (actually they only come to the knees) and my long sleeved running shirt. Brrr...... Anyway, I was supposed to run today and rest tomorrow. I'll just swap the days. I do hope it's not that cold tomorrow though.
I have no doubt that I'll be digging out the heavy sweats in just a couple of weeks.

Sometimes I don't know my own strength
Apparently I broke the belt on my elliptical today. It seems I was going so damn fast that I broke the belt. Either that, or the thing just wore out as I started my workout today :)
So I only ended up getting about 15 minutes on the elliptical. After my late night last night I was not up to a hard workout anyway, so that worked out good.
Last night hubby and I went to see America in concert. I'll be writing a detailed post on the concert but not tonight, I'm tired.

Where were you while we were getting high??
I was out for a run. This morning was strength and running. It was leg day. I have got to swap my schedule so that legs fall on the non-running day. Doh!!!
Since I started my run before sunrise I wore my cute little white running skirt so I'd stand out. It was an okay run. I had some knee pain before I started so that was a problem. But I did a little over 3 miles in 39 minutes. My pace is slightly faster than last week. That's good.
That's all I have to say. It's early and I probably should get started on work.

And another Monday ends....
I do hate returning to work after a long weekend. It serves to remind me that work is not my favorite thing :)
Nothing much going on really. This morning was strength training. I did it, it was good. What else can I say????
My neck pain is finally going away. I actually went all day without thinking about my neck. Yea!!! While my neck was hurting I had a fairly constant headache. While I was pretty sure it was related to my neck, I was a little concerned that I was getting a migraine. I used to get them regularly and whenever I feel like I might be getting one I freak a little. I hate them. They are so incredibly painful. Ugh!!!
And another Monday draws to a close. Hope yours was good.

As usual I'm late to the party!!
Running Skirts?!?!?!?!?! Oh. My. God...... These are the best things since sliced bread. I just got back from my 4 miler and what a fun run it was.
I had a hard time getting a picture of myself since hubby is at work today. If only I could teach the dogs to take pictures :)
Anyway, my skirt story. I've been flirting with the idea of getting a running skirt for a while now. I keep cruising the running apparel websites looking at the various features and debating. I never got one because I have a couple of issues.
First, I have thunder thighs. No matter how skinny I ever get, my thighs remain large. That's okay, it doesn't bother me anymore but it makes for some considerations when running. I can't run in 'running' shorts because they ride up between my thighs and I chafe. I can wear them for walking and hiking, but no running. So when I run I wear spandex shorts. Now one major reason I've been holding off getting a running skirt is because of the shorts underneath. They had to be long enough to go over my thighs. If you visit the various running sites you will see that the short underneath comes in all lengths. Since I'm pretty picky about how long I like those shorts, I could never commit to buying them.
Also, for some reason, I thought a skirt would be more revealing. More revealing than spandex shorts?!?!?!? I know but I did. Well, that is so not the case. In fact, it's the exact opposite.
Finally, for a long time there I was pretty convinced I may never run again. I didn't see any point in buying running clothes if I wasn't going to be able to run. So for those reasons, I've held off buying a running skirt.
Yesterday at Sports Authority I was actually looking for some sports bras. As I was cruising the women's clothing I noticed some Adidas running skirts. I started looking at them and noticed many of them had briefs underneath. Okay, that is so not happening with my thighs. But I continued to look because I was intrigued. Further investigation revealed that some did have shorts underneath. I looked and found the style that had the short length I wanted. I was ecstatic. They were New Balance regularly $60 on sale for $31. I was stoked. Once I had found a couple of pair that I liked I was looking around for some sports bras when I stumbled on this rack. The brand was Aspire. I never heard of it but I was comparing it to the New Balance and Adidas skirts and realized the only real difference was the price. The Aspire was $19.99. Oh, and the Aspire only came in black, blue, and white, the others came in pretty colors. None of them had pockets, which really would have been nice, but other than that they were identical. I picked up 2 of the Aspire. When I got to the register they were further discounted to $15.99 so I got another one. I was very excited.
So I put it on this morning to go for my run. It fits perfect and the short is exactly the right length. I just felt cute in it. As I ran I could feel the skirt sway in the back and it reminded me of when I was a little kid and would dance just to feel my skirt sway. It is incredibly comfortable and really does feel better than running in shorts. I love it!!!
Now that I have a pair and know exactly how long the short has to be (5") I'm going to look around online for some of the really cute ones that I've seen in patterns and colors and such. I'm going to eventually replace all my shorts with running skirts. I'll even wear these to do my strength training in. Now, do they make bike skirts???
Oh right, the actual run. 4 miles in 50 minutes. Not too shabby considering I haven't run 4 miles in over a year :)
