Todays workout done.

I forget how good certain workouts make me feel. My main objective over the next few months is to lose some fat and get into shape to start serious tri training in January. One of the things I'm focusing on is weight training. More muscles = more calories burned all the time. I've been doing some programs and they have worked well but I was getting bored. This morning I found a series of weight training DVDs that I bought last year and had forgotten about.

I really like them because they are based on a number of concepts I think work. First, they include cardio intervals which I really believe burn serious fat. Secondly, they use compound movements. So instead of just doing bicep curls, you do curls with a squat. More muscles utilized for a more intense workout. Anyway, I did one this morning and these totally rock. I really enjoy doing them and I get an awesome workout. It's perfect. I have 4 of them so I think I'll use these for a while for my strength training. I love them. Oh yeah, they are called Ripped and they are awesome.

After that I calibrated my Nike+. That was just a short run up the road. I wanted it to be all ready for tomorrows run. I'm thinking I might go long. I don't know maybe 2 miles :)

Anyway, I just wanted to post because I do forget these things. Since I'm feeling better, I'm really getting back into working out and pushing my body. I love it. If things go as planned I'll have to send out announcements advertising the new me :)

Quiet week

It's been an introspective week here at chez Flo. I had to get a new iPod since mine is beginning to die. The battery charge is only lasting a couple of hours now so I know that soon it will stop holding a charge completely. After searching around I settled on a 2nd gen Nano. I got it on Monday and wow!!! It's small. Compared to the old one which is like a 1st gen original. It even has the 4 buttons which they took away immediately. So, since I had the Nano I realized I could get the Nike+. So I got that plus a sensor holder since I don't wear Nikes. I'm going to give it a test drive today and see how I like it. I have to calibrate it and then tomorrow is the big test.

I have been running and I'm beginning to love it again. I'm up to a whooping 1.5 miles but I want to build really slowly. Nothing at all hurts and I want it to stay that way. I was out running on Thursday and I was feeling so good, I was smiling like a fool and thought to myself, it's lucky it's dark cause I look like an idiot. But it's so good to be back running and feeling good again. I haven't run like this in 2 1/2 years. I want this feeling to stay. I love it.

I've been doing some aerobics too. I noticed that my aerobic capacity had really diminished over this year since I hadn't been running or doing lots of aerobic stuff. I know that the best way to increase my aerobic capacity is to do aerobics. I have some great DVD's that have strength training and aerobic intervals. It's really helping, I can see it in my running.

So I'm feeling good and things are moving along. You can tell it's getting to be fall, the playoffs have been on TV. Pretty soon the World Series will be on. I know people who can't wait get world series tickets, which I don't understand. Baseball is boring. Of course, watching most sports is boring, I'd much rather be doing something. Speaking of doing something, I'm off to go work out and calibrate my Nike+.

The Week,

I haven't felt much like posting this week. Not that things haven't been happening, I've just been in a quiet phase and don't feel much like writing/talking. I did however, come across the greatest explanation of our tax system I've ever seen. I've posted it over at The Ones Who Get Screwed. If you are frustrated with taxes and they piss you off as much as they do me, read it, it will bring things into a whole new light.

Okay, that's all for now. More indepth on my training and plans for the future either tonight or tomorrow.

The week

Do your days have certain feel to them?? Wait, is this a Seinfeld routine?? Seriously, Monday is kind of ugh, start the work week. Tuesday just kind of hums along. Wednesday is good because it's the middle of the week. Thursday always seems kind of busy. And then there's Friday. Probably the best day of the week.

So today is Tuesday. Nothing exciting, just humming along. I've been working on getting my workouts in. Last week kind of threw me for a loop and this week is focused on getting back on track. I'm running and that is a good thing.

I don't really have all that much to say. I'm just cruising along trying to get back into my routine. You know, I love routines. Routines is what helped me get in the great shape I had been in. Routine helped me lose weight. Routine allows me time to do things I like. So I really like routine. Last week my routine was all jumbled and I'm working really hard on getting it back. So far so good.

On my drive to work in the morning there is a Ford Edge. I am so coveting that car. I can not justify buying a new car when my Escape is in great shape. I've taken exceptional care of it and it runs like a top. I can not justify getting a new car just because I want one. But I guess I can covet :) At least the Edge doesn't need a car spoiler to look hot. It does that all by itself.

Okay, enough blabbing. I do have a good post to write over at The Ones Who Get Screwed. If you want to laugh at the insane State of Hawaii go check it out.

The coolest thing.....

I've just found it and I can't believe it took me so long.

I've been doing these intervals for cardio for a while now and I really like them. The problem is I find myself slacking more often than not. In the beginning I pushed hard, but as time goes on I push less and less. So I've been trying to come up with a way to make it exciting and a real workout again. I found it. Cardio coach is a program you can download for your iPod, or whatever. I got it about a week or 2 ago but only got around to using it tonight. What a kick ass workout.

First of all the music fits the intensity exactly so that helps a lot. Then the coach, Sean O'Malley, is talking you through the workout out, but not too much. It's perfect. Finally there are a couple of different interval segments with some steady state work in between. It's great. I totally love it and am really looking forward to tomorrow nights workout.

Anyway, just thought I'd share that. It really rocks. You could use it outdoors running or on any cardio machine. With the winter coming and lots more work being done inside it might just be the extra push you need to take it up a notch.

Quiet Sunday afternoon

It's been a typical Sunday and I like it. Since 2 of the 3 birds went home last night it's been a much quieter day - Yea!!! I cleaned the house this morning although, because Tatu is still here, didn't get to clean the birdie/computer room. That will happen tomorrow night when Tatu has gone home.

I also went to the bird club meeting. That's always fun. If you're a bird lover it's really fun to see so many birds in one place. The president is stepping down and I'm probably going to get more involved with the club. It's a good way to meet bird people and it's a fun, not to difficult, thing to do. So that will be good.

I'm doing a lot of computer work now, blogging for dollars and mystery shopping, and my computer is older and slow. I'm thinking of getting a new one and I'm considering a laptop. As a rule I'm not a huge fan of laptops. I don't need to carry it with me for work or anything, although I could to have it handy for mystery shopping stuff. I'm also not a fan of their keyboards, my fingers are too fat. But I guess I could get a wireless keyboard that's regular size and use it at home. I don't know. This will bounce around my head for a while before I decide.

In other things, I realized an interesting phenomena today. I've been a little stressed over the past week because of the birds. Now in the past I would have turned to food. Not this time. I turned to spending money. It's true. I bought an iPod Nano, an armband and charger for it, and the Nike+ for running. Now granted I went online and got good deals, but it was interesting to realize what I was doing. So today I went to the book store and got a triathlon book so I can start planning my training for next season.

That's it. I'm done. Hope you all had a good weekend.

Conversation with Hubby

So yesterday morning I presented my idea of working out at home to the Hubby. Once I presented it to him, he said he was in. I told him I h...
