Nothing to say

Today I have nothing to say. So be prepared for some rambling.  Yesterday I worked in here the entire day. I started cutting the sunflower. I am cutting that out of scraps that I have around. I did not have enough canary wood, so I used some basswood and I'm going to stain it slightly. The basswood is not that different in color from the canary, so that shouldn't be too hard. It is a different texture, so that will be a bit of a challenge. But I'll make it work somehow.  I painted one of my 3-D prints also. I had a thought of doing it and decided to give it a try. I sanded the print a little to get the ridges off and painted it. It worked well. Who knew??? Oh, I made some other things too. I cut two small hexagonal shelf sitters. Then I cut a large, layered cardinal. All three need to be painted, which I'll probably do today.  I did not go out in the garage all day. I had been chomping at the bit to test out my new planer, but I never made it out to the garage. Oh w...

The weekend is here

This was a good week. I had lots of energy all week. Except for my little blow up on Monday, my classes were good. I am looking forward to this weekend. I have things to do. I've come up with some ideas for new products. I bought some files yesterday that I probably shouldn't have, trying not to spend money, but I'm itching to make things. I came across some files that are thin prints on the 3-D printer and I have the idea of putting them on wood and making wall hangings out of them. I think it will be really cute. Going to work on that today.  Otherwise I feel really good. It's the last week of my GCU class and I'm so happy about that. I have one major project due, but I discovered last night that it's not worth any more than my other papers and it's going to be a lot more work. With my current grade, if I did nothing this week, I would still get a C. That is awesome. I just need to pass this class, so now I need to decide how hard I'm willing to work ...

Yesterday was much better

I realized something while I was teaching yesterday. I had fallen into patterns with my biology and marine science class. I had started making assumptions about them which I wasn't thrilled with and started treating them based on those assumptions whether they were acting that way or not. Yesterday in biology, 1st period, I lectured and told stories. It was amazing. They were talking and responding and it was a great class. I think I have been letting my preconceived ideas affect the class before we even started and thus making me somewhat miserable. Dude, it really is all in my head.  My marine science class I had a little heart to heart with and things went well. Really. Really. Well. And I did the same thing with them. I lectured from the slides and told stories and we laughed and joked and it was so incredibly awesome. I had lost the spark of teaching them and as a result, they had lost the spark of learning. Having it back yesterday made me realize how much I enjoy teach...

Yesterday was better

I was still thinking about what happened in marine science yesterday and could not get it off my mind. I finally talked to my principal about it and she was so supportive and helpful. Definitely made me feel better. I am going to sit down and have a heart to heart with them today.  I realized that I am not having any problems with my chemistry classes this year and all my problems are with biology and marine science. That's weird. But I'm really kind of enjoying chemistry this year. Except the classes are too big. But whatever.... I start the last week of my GCU class tomorrow. I am excited about that. I do have a presentation to make but I honestly don't even really care about it. I have an A in the course and if I bomb the presentation completely, I'll still pass the course. And that's all I care about, is passing the course. I'll be glad when that is done.  Next up is the ESL course. I am in week 3 of that I believe. Now I will be able to focus on that and g...

What is going on?

I need to figure out why I'm blowing up. Last Wednesday I blew up at my biology class. Yesterday I blew up at my marine science class. I have to figure out what is going on. Why am I doing this? I feel somewhat peaceful in my mind and then suddenly I'll just go off. Why? I really need to figure this out because I don't like it and I want it to stop.  I know that part of it is that I think I don't want to be there anymore. I have found something I absolutely love doing and that's what I want to do. Now, that's not practical. At least at this point in time. I have to keep working to pay off some bills and set us up a little better financially before we retire completely.  And I don't hate what I do. I am not happy with those 2 classes.  Okay, time to distance myself from this. Seriously. I need to detach myself from the way they act and just do my job. I clearly have too much invested in how they act and I need to pull that out. I need to pull the emotions ou...

A new week

It is Monday and it's another week. We are almost at the end of January. The days go so quickly. So quickly. I need to stop and enjoy them more. Since I had to stay at school Thursday night, I got a lot done and ready for this week. All my copies are made and ready to go.  Yesterday ended up being a rather quiet day. I worked on Pinterest all morning and then some friends came over to watch the games. I sat out there with them with the plan of working on my Pinterest account, but I didn't. I worked for a little bit but not much. That will be my goal this week, get parts of my Pinterest account ready to go so that I can move on next weekend.  I'm thinking of going hiking next weekend. The group I belong to is hiking Butcher Jones and I'd love to do that. I hope my butt is healed up by then. There is also a hike on Valentine's Day I'm interested in. As much as I love working on my stuff, I do need to get out more. This is a great way to do it. I was thinking of t...

Feeling a little more focused

I spent yesterday morning writing in my Finish journal. I laid out some goals that I think are very reasonable and completely doable. I set daily/weekly goals for completing them. I feel good about my progress. The only thing I need to do is to get everything ready and start on February 1st. Yes, I know, there is no point in waiting and I really should start now. But there is stuff that needs to be done before I can commit to working my plan. So the plan for the next 5 days is to complete some things and get ready to start working the plan on February 1st. Everything I wrote is about my business, I do need to add some personal things in there, but that's easy. Those things are pretty cut and dry and easy to fit into things.  I was reading one of the teachings of Buddha this morning. Side note: I think I want to read more of his teachings, I will need to find a good book or something to do that. Anyway, the teaching was about being comfortable in your own house (your brain) an...
