And now it's Friday

It's been a good week. I got a lot accomplished. Unfortunately, not some of the things I needed to get done. My room looks amazing though. Now if I could just clean this desk.  Okay, I'm beginning to feel completely overwhelmed. My show is next Friday. I do not feel ready at all. I still have things to make and I haven't even started them. I still have the damn soccer awards. When I feel overwhelmed like this I tend to shut down and do nothing. I can't let that happen. I need a plan that will keep me moving forward. Okay, let's list out the things I need to get done:  finish the sunflower - this may not happen..... make some more minis make some more ornaments make signs or all the pieces make a let's get social sign make a hanging sign for my shop figure out how I'm going to set up my booth not freak out soccer awards Okay, everything that is not on that list has to be pushed to the side and wait. I can start cutting some things now. I can stain the soccer...

The room is coming together

Yesterday I hung the shelves in my room all by myself. And if I say so myself, they are awesome. I started putting some stuff on them. I also started filling my shelving unit. I had two stands that held stuff in here. One lived under the table where my shelves are now and the other was a rolling cart. While I liked them and they were handy to store stuff, they took up a lot of room. The rolling one in particular would get in the way a lot. Now I have the stuff from both of those carts in my shelving unit and the carts will be leaving to find a new home. There is so much room in here, I Love it.  We anchored my table to the wall when putting in the shelves. My 3-D printer sits on that table and when it runs it shakes like crazy. I've been wanting to anchor the table, there was just too much crap under there to be able to work on it. So once it was cleaned out, I got under there and anchored the table to the wall and it is super sturdy now. I don't think that thing will shake a...

I let something disturb my peace

I've been dealing with  Penguin Air for a few days now. I've used them for years and usually they are great. They call when they are on the way and show up when they say they will, usually great service. This time??? Not so much. We called them on Saturday because the blower stopped working. I needed a rush appointment and they told me they would call me back. We went on with our day only to have them show up unannounced and we not be home. Back and forth with them, we finally get back on the schedule and the same thing happens again. They show up with no warning. Ugh!!! Luckily we were close by and got here quick. Turns out we needed a part that they could not get until Monday. The guy said he would be out first thing Monday morning with the part to fix it. Okay, cool. Well, comes on 10am and still no word or no sign of the guy. I tried calling and got absolutely nowhere. I got a little testy with them. I tried to maintain my peace, but I was getting frustrated. We had an ap...

The makeover has begun

Yesterday I just started tearing this room apart. I have decided to put shelving under my work table for additional storage and add real shelves to the wall above the worktable. So onto Ikea I went looking for something that would fit and that I liked. Found it! That's no surprise. Ordered it and picked it  up yesterday. Then went to Lowe's and bought shelves and brackets to put on my wall for the shelves. Then went scorched earth on the things in my room here. Things I've been holding on to forever - gone. Things I made and then didn't use - gone. Things that have just been hanging around forever - gone. It feels so good to purge some of this stuff. I built the shelving yesterday and it is slightly too tall to fit under my table. So I made some blocks to add to the legs, but then had a weird dream last night and decided to just buy adjustable legs. They are already ordered and will be  ready for pick up after Ikea opens. I figure we can start working on the wall shelv...

Decorating the car

Yesterday I just got a bug up my butt and decided that my car not only needed a name, it also needed some decoration. So I ordered some side decals for it - I was going to make them and just decided they were too much to make. They needed to be over 6' long and it was looking weird on the layout so I decided to just buy them. But I did have a talk with Claude (AI) about names for her and I settled on Sundance. I also made a compass rose with the saying, Not all who wander are lost. Finally I want to put a swissy head on my back side windows. I think. I'm not 100% sure of that, but I'm considering it. Maybe a cactus scene back there. Oh, that's an idea. I'll work on that today.  Yesterday was quite the adventure. We took Akua and went in search of a Farmer's Market. The first place we went was an actual store 🤦‍♀️ So we sat in the parking lot trying to find one and just picked one. Got there and it was packed. It was in a park that had tons of things going on. ...

Time for some adventures

We've had Akua almost a year now, exactly it's been 9 months. It took a while, but you can see that he is settling into our lives. He doesn't mind us going to work, he gets a frozen kong toy that he loves. He doesn't run away when the door is open, though he isn't great at recall and self control so we don't push it. He loves his walks in the morning. So I have decided it's time to get him out and about more. I want him to get used to riding in the car and to going different places with us. So today is an adventure day. We are going to a farmer's market in Mesa, the stopping at a wood working store for some huge clamps. After that we might stop at the Riparian preserve to let him walk around a little bit. Then we are stopping at a wood show around the corner. It might sound like a lot, but we will only be at each place for a few minutes, and he needs to learn to move from one thing to the next. When we travel that's what we do, so he needs to get us...
